He has worked in Guam, Atlanta and New Hampshire prior to returning to Loma Linda University as Chair of the Preventive Medicine Department in 2003. Wayne has an international reputation as a leader in the field of Lifestyle Medicine, having served as President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and as an international consultant in the area. He is also the Medical Director of the Lifestyle Medicine Institute, and a Professor at Loma Linda University. He is passionate about treating what is really causing health problems, not just putting Band-Aids on superficial issues.

He is a second-generation Korean-American who was born in Los Angeles and raised in Orange County, California. He graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1992. He then did his general surgery residency at the New York Flushing Hospital Medical Center from 1992 to 1997. He further specialized in colon and rectal surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center from 1997 to 1998.
Dr. Syn received his board certification from the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He has been practicing colon and rectal surgery in Southern California for over 20 years.

Yessenia Toscano, FNP-C, MSN, BSN, RN, is a dedicated nurse professional at Apple Urgent Care in Colton, Coachella, Moreno Valley, Hemet, Perris, Riverside, Indio, and San Bernardino, California.
Yessenia started her nursing education at Riverside City College in Riverside, California, earning an associate degree in nursing. While working as a clinical nurse at Riverside Community Hospital, Yessenia completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State University Fullerton in Fullerton, California.
Dedicated to advancing in her profession, Yessenia continued her education at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California, earning her Master of Science to become a family nurse practitioner. During her master’s program, Yessenia won the Outstanding Masters Nursing Student award.
Yessenia has several years of experience working as an acute care nurse and excels at delivering high-quality patient care as a nurse practitioner. She has experience in primary care, women’s health, pediatrics, psychosocial, and urgent care.
