Dr. Steven Guttmann, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his BA in psychology from Brooklyn College/CUNY and went on to receive his medical degree from Sackler University. Steven completed his medical residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. After serving as Chief Medical Resident he completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center.

Following fellowship, Dr. Guttmann served as a staff attending at Forest Hill-Long Island Jewish Hospital as well as the Director of Endoscopy. He subsequently went on to run a busy inpatient gastroenterology service at Long Island Jewish and North Shore University Hospitals/Northwell.

Dr. Guttmann is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Hofstra University Medical School and has numerous national publications and presentations on gastrointestinal topics. His interests include general luminal gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, hepato-pancreaticobiliary disease, and therapeutic GI.

He received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2002 and completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. He then earned a Master of Science degree in Nutrition at New York University in 2006 and went on to receive his training in Gastroenterology, which he completed in 2009, at Montefiore Medical Center. He joined Riverdale Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases immediately following his fellowship training. 

Dr. Gutwein is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the New York Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
