John B. Fuller, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who provides complete orthopaedic care to people of all ages in New Port Richey, Florida, and throughout Pasco County. Dr. Fuller specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery. People across the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater metropolitan areas visit the practice for treatment of various health problems, including arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, hand injuries, and joint pain.
After completing an evaluation, Dr. Fuller lays out potential treatment options and gives an in-depth explanation of the pros and cons of each option, allowing patients to make well-informed decisions. He can also review alternative treatment strategies that patients present and offer an opinion on their likely efficacy. When possible, the team treats these and other issues using a minimally invasive approach. Dr. Fuller is trained in a wide array of orthopaedic procedures, including arthroplasty (joint replacement), arthroscopy, joint fusion, vascular repair, nerve repair, and advanced reconstructive techniques.
Dr. Fuller attended medical school at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where he served as a peer academic mentor. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Fuller attended a combined military/civilian orthopaedic residency program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and University Medical Center in El Paso, TX. This is the only combined military/civilian program in the country and it provided a unique opportunity to train alongside many military orthopaedic surgeons. In military orthopaedic training, it is a learning priority to be able to stabilize complex, diverse trauma in austere conditions where a minimum of specialized equipment is available. Dr. Fuller is confident in thinking through uniquely complex problems and finding creative solutions that will meet your needs.
During medical school, Dr. Fuller became particularly interested in the intricate anatomy and function of the hand. Throughout residency, Dr. Fuller’s interest grew and he learned the importance of effective hand function in patient’s professions, recreational activities, and activities of daily living. This motivated Dr. Fuller to attend hand fellowship at the University of New Mexico. In addition to covering the full spectrum of upper extremity pathology, this fellowship puts special emphasis on microsurgical procedures such as nerve repairs, vascular repairs, and flap coverage procedures.
Dr. Fuller is a Florida native who was born and raised in St. Augustine. During his personal time, Dr. Fuller enjoys spending time with his wife Lindsey, son Elijah, and daughter Imogene. He is an avid outdoorsman and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth. He pursues many activities that build self-reliance, including wilderness survival, martial arts, and homesteading.
