Dr. Shandi declared at five years old that she wanted to become a pediatrician! Growing up, education was a top priority. Even though she had symptoms of untreated ADHD she was able to navigate the educational system and fulfill her lifelong dream. Dr. Shandi uses her experiences and training to provide her patients with compassionate, comprehensive, and top-notch care. Dr. Shandi attended medical school at Howard University in Washington DC. She did her residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL. After moving from the east coast to California she continued her education by obtaining her Master of Public Health degree at UC Berkeley. She has gotten additional training in trauma-informed care and ADHD. She has successfully run ADHD clinics for almost 15 years. She is also a member of CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder). In her "free time," she enjoys gardening, dancing, music, and creating art. She is happy to call California her home.

I have practiced in San Leandro since 1978 and have served as Chief of Pediatrics at the local hospitals. I am on staff at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley and Children's Hospital Oakland.
By focusing on each child's nutrition, growth, development, and emotional well-being, we strive to optimize all of our patients' health. It is much easier to prevent health problems from developing than to deal with an illness after the fact.
I strongly encourage breast-feeding as a basis for good health, and support immunizing all children against preventable diseases. I use antibiotics sparingly and only if necessary to treat bacterial infections.
