About Dr. Peter Ashjian, MD
Dr. Peter Ashjian is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Los Angeles specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Over the past decade, he has performed hundreds of these operations, employing innovative and established techniques to enhance the lives of his patients. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and Armenian American Medical Society of California.
Dr. Peter Ashjian earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry magna cum laude and his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology cum laude from the University of California at Irvine. He was awarded Dean’s Undergraduate Research Award, Presidential Undergraduate Research Fellowship and was a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon Chemistry Honor Society. Dr. Ashjian studied medicine at the New York University School of Medicine where he graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Ashjian completed his residency in General Surgery at the New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital. During his residency in general surgery he was also a research fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine where he participated in the laboratory for Regenerative Bioengineering and Repair. He then went on to complete his residency in Plastic Surgery at the prestigious Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the NYU School of Medicine. He was trained in plastic surgery at the distinguished faculty of the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He completed his fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at the UCLA Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Also, Dr. Ashjian has refined his skill through years of experience practicing as a board-certified Los Angeles plastic surgeon.
Board certified in Plastic Surgery, Dr. Ashjian is affiliated with Hoag Memorial Hospital, Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield and the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center.
A very active reseacher, Dr. Ashjian has authored numerous publications on reconstruction, microsurgery and other scientific abstracts. He has also authored a chapter on Chemical Peeling, Dermabrasion and Injectables in a leading textbook on plastic surgery. Dr. Ashjian holds patents for several plastic surgery-related methodologies.

This often employs both surgical and non-surgical techniques to attain a natural, non-operated look. Education is critical to ultimate patient satisfaction. It is our goal to communicate all treatment options in an unbiased, sympathetic manner, so that the patient can truly make an informed decision. Plastic surgery requires both an artist's eye and the surgical skills to efficiently deliver consistent results. Dr. Ashjian firmly believes that the fundamental goal of plastic surgery is to enhance a person's unique architecture and beauty, thus establishing a symmetric, balanced, and attractive appearance. It is not to drastically alter an individual's facade or perform a "cookie-cutter" procedure.
