About The Practice
Board-certified podiatrist Neil H Hecht, DPM, has been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery in the Los Angeles area since finishing his residency at Memorial Hospital of Hawthorne in 1978. At his practice in Tarzana, California, Dr. Hecht provides high-quality podiatric care with the goal of educating each patient on available treatment plans and empowering them to take an active role in their health care.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Hecht attended Case Western Reserve University to complete his undergraduate studies. He went on to graduate from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco as a Pi Delta Honor Society member.
Dr. Hecht is specialty board-certified from both the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (1984) and the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics (1988). He is an active member of the American and California Podiatric Medical Associations and the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Society and has fellowships in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American College of Foot Orthopedists, and the American Professional Wound Care Association.
In addition to his full-time private practice, Dr. Hecht is on staff at several local hospitals. He is the charter attending podiatric specialist for advanced wound care at The Center for Wound Care at Sherman Oaks Hospital and an invited attending specialist at The Wound Care Advantage at Verdugo Hills Hospital, providing advanced wound healing technology on a continuing basis. He is the former director of the podiatric residency training program at Sherman Oaks Hospital and attending staff for the residency training program at Providence Tarzana Medical Center.

Dr. Santander is a fellowship-trained surgeon in foot and ankle reconstruction, revision, and limb preservation.
He is a diplomate of both the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine with additional qualifications in foot and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Santander has served in the medical field from the age of 17 when he enlisted in the United States Army in a Combat Support Hospital and deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning, Dr. Santander attended UCLA before earning his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in California and completing a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. Dr. Santander went on to a reconstruction, revision, and limb preservation fellowship with Foot & Ankle Specialist of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
As a Los Angeles native, Dr. Santander returns with excellent advanced surgical training and diverse experience serving people of all backgrounds to join Los Angeles Institute of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
