I just turned 60 a few days ago, and I had some questions which were answered swiftly and I felt somewhat dismissively. I felt as though my checkup with her was in between other tasks she had to do, and that if I didn’t ask to Show moreinitiate would not have been addressed even though I have history to discuss professionally. She literally looked at her watch while I was in the middle of asking her a question about something important to me. Given that I had a major health crisis a year ago, I found it curious that she had no interest in follow up inquiry and since I sensed she was distracted I didn’t want to discuss other concerns. She recommended I see other specialists for moderate concerns- and didn’t even look at what I was talking about- something I found off putting given the context of an annual checkup definitely being in the realm of general practitioner. I was seen at 10, and out by 10:20. I was glad to have the necessary follow ups scheduled, however I felt rushed and definitely not attended to in the ways I had been accustomed to with Isa Sturm. Monarque has changed quite a bit.

Her depth of knowledge, especially on blood work and internal medicine issues is especially strong. She’s a comfort when I need help.
Dr. Prestwich is Chief Medical Officer for Monarque Health and Wellness. He has over 35 years of experience as a teacher and clinician, and his responsibilities include care process development, leveraging value-based metrics to continually improve patient care, staff education, and clinical support of our nurse practitioners.
Dr. Prestwich was Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California prior to his work as Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine at the Geffen School of Medicine of the University of California, Los Angeles. He has championed the application of the Improvement Model from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement to the transformation of primary care practices into value producing Patient Centered Medical Homes. His work has also focussed on interprofessional care team design for the care of complex patients and families. This approach includes population-based screening, risk stratification, and care process design for a number of behavioral health and social determinants of wellbeing including emotional trauma, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, and chemical dependency.
Dr. Prestwich has been collaborating with our team at Monarque Health and Wellness to refine our family centered care model that is designed to better care for families and communities and leverages the “Caring Profession” of Nursing to provide comprehensive screening, evaluation, and care planning to optimize the wellness of our patients. His goal is to continue working with the Monarque Health and Wellness team to design care processes which, when delivered reliably to populations, are demonstrated to result in better care for patients.
