I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of getting an appointment with Dr. Kellar. The office staff are friendly and helpful every step of the way. We discussed the results of the in office testing and set up a home sleep study to complete the exam. The most impressive evaluation of my exam came when he happened to pass by me in the hall during a walking/O2 test. When we met later on he noted that my O2 levels were acceptable but he noticed that I was extremely weak. As a result I am exerting significantly more effort to do simple functions like walking resulting in significantly heavier breathing. Going beyond the actual exam results he suggested physical exercises targeting areas that would help improve my breathing. The ensuing conversation was extremely useful and has given me more direction to improve my breathing.

Dennis Kellar, MD, is the owner and CEO of Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine in Algonquin, Illinois. He is a board-certified multispecialty physician, providing his patients with expert care.
Some of his many areas of expertise include trauma/critical care, pulmonary diseases, sleep disorders, and complex long-term respiratory and ventilator care.
Dr. Kellar has been serving the community for over 20 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kellar’s training includes an internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital and completing pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine fellowship as a chief fellow at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Kellar has served as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford in Rockford, Illinois. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served with the 101st airborne division. Dr. Kellar also holds numerous director positions, including medical director for several ventilator care and COVID-19 units in the northwest suburbs.
He served as the previous director of respiratory therapy for Illinois and director of pulmonary sleep services for an extensive health system in Northern Illinois. Dr. Kellar has been published in numerous areas covering pulmonary and critical care and was appointed as a special investigator of the coroner’s office in Mchenry County.

They are so nice there!!!
Dr Keller took an in-depth analysis of the condition of my sleep apnea so I will be ready for arm replacement surgery. Concerns of a leaky mask will be addressed in my annual assessment.

Dr Keller was very pleasant. I went home with a sleep study home kit. Hopefully he will help get to the root of my snoring problem. Very nice staff.

Dr Kellar was very up front and discussed information about my asthma I had never heard. Made total sense very quickly why things had not been working and pointing me in the right direction. I have already talked about getting my children in for a visit with him, as well as my father- as we all seem to have the same issues with asthma.
I was welcomed and made to feel comfortable soon after my arrival. The staff was kind and thoughtful . I look firward to returning in two weeks.
From the time I checked in I was truly greeted with smiles and patience. When going through all of the testing she took the time to explain what each test was for and what I was going to experience during the test. Dr. Keller took his time and explained each result of each test. Very informative and good experience.

In January I had double bypass heart surgery. My General Practitioner refered me to Dr. Kellar, due to repeat fluid buildup in the chest cavity. I had two prior throcentises to remove fluid buildup. Dr.Kellar was very professional and through in his explanation of future treatments. His experience was evident. He also had a great bedside manner which was appreciated. I highly recommend him.
