Irene Rusu, MD, is a fellowship-trained surgical and medical retinal specialist at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chicago in Illinois. Dr. Rusu completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York University School of Medicine and her fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/NY Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Rusu is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases. She has published, researched, and presented at national conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rusu has received numerous awards for her research, including the University of Chicago Ophthalmology and Visual Science Award for outstanding performance in ophthalmology.

I’m a patient in the clinic but will not come back, came for a walk in which they approved but when i came in the technician and the Doctor was surprised and rude , that i came in for a red eye, telling me in short that my problem is nothing compared to others and that they are very busy . I don’t think i deserve this treatment, i waited for 2 hours which i don’t mind but giving me a nasty attitude is not acceptable, and the doctor forgot to send my prescription coz she was in a rush to finish seeing me…
