Dr. James E. Race, M.D. of Dallas, Texas, has more than 30 years of experience. With a specialization in internal medicine, he is the go-to physician for your medical home and primary care needs. He has many long-term patients, some of whom have been with him for all 30 years.
Dr. Race is a lifelong Texan born in Houston. Dr. Races’ Mom and Dad were both educators and stressed the value of reading and education. Growing up, Dr. Race attended Strake Jesuit High School before heading to Texas Southern to study Biology. While at Texas Southern, where his dad was a professor of biology, he got involved in animal research. After graduating, he headed to Meharry Medical College School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. After medical school, he completed his internal medicine residency at Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, Ohio. After residency, he completed a year as the chief resident of the internal medicine program. Dr. Race relocated to Dallas in 1988.
While in Private practice, Dr. Race has been involved in over sixty clinical research trials. This twenty- year thirst for knowledge ties back to his parent’s support and the research skills he learned in college. This additional clinical activity has allowed him to publish papers and win research awards.
Dr. Race has served on the governing boards of over a dozen healthcare organizations, professional associations, payers, and nonprofit groups. In addition, he is on the medical staff of Methodist Dallas Medical Center. He is also a past president of the Dallas American Heart Association, where he was twice voted the volunteer of the year.

The five stars are for dr. Race himself. Yes it's true dr. Race is a exceptional physician with a exceptional bed - side manner. He always addresses my medical needs and I have to say he's very friendly and he always seems to brighten my rest of my day after my appointment. And he's also sometimes he's even a little funny too which goes along ways. I highly recommend him to any person. Although I must say he needs a much larger office. but that's just one opinion.
