Great Doctor
Mike and I first started seeing Dr John Wray on moving here in 1992. He took good care of us all those years. Now I am so thankful to have his successor Dr Willits as my personal family doctor. She’s extremely personable, carinShow moreg, and very cautious with my health now that I’m in my 80s. I’ve spent years before we retired to Abilene, getting poked and prodded by nurses and lab techs trying to find my rolling, tiny arm veins to draw blood. At AFMA, I’ve never had that happen. Always a quick draw of blood and oh such pleasant people every phase of their health care offices!!!

Dr. Willits earned her undergraduate degree at Abilene Christian University. She then received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was the recipient of the Merck Manual Award and was a finalist for the prestigious Gold-Headed Cane Award. Dr. Willits completed her family medicine residency at the Waco Family Medicine Institute. She was awarded the May Wang “Most Compassionate Physician” Award and served as a chief resident.
Dr. Willits, with her husband and kids, lived in West Africa from 2010-2018 where she served as a medical missionary, caring for some of the most financially impoverished and medically underserved people of the world. Since returning to the United States, her work has been in primary care, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine.
When not working, Dr. Willits loves spending time with her family. She enjoys reading, running, scuba diving, hiking, and being outdoors.

I had my first appt. with Dr. Willets yesterday. She was very nice and took time to get to know me. I am diabetic and we discussed possible changes to my medications. I look forward to having her as my Dr. All of the staff was very nice and helpful.
Dr. Willits is a caring, concerned physician that listens to to me. The only issue is the long wait before seeing her. I wish their scheduling was better to avoid the long waits.
Dr Willits is the best. She REALLY listens and explains and answers any questions and/or concerns I have. Plus her nurses aid (not sure of her name) is a ray of sunshine. Y'all are the best.
