From the moment I arrived at the cardiologist office, Dr. Laura Fernandes, it was like night and day over other offices. Her front office staff were organized and very happy and professional and kept their attention on you. The fShow moreirst nurse I saw to bring me into the room and take my BP was very nice, happy and stayed and chatted with me for a few moments just to make you feel comfortable. Then the doctor and her nurse came in and the nurse took all the notes and scheduled tests and ordered RX while the doctor spent her time focused on me. She is super friendly and happy over the top positive. She examined me and took my BP laying down and propped up on a pillow and standing up and looked at how much water I was carrying then started ordering tests and a water pill and potassium for a 7 day trial and then a different diuretic for after the 7 days. She said I am carrying about 15 lbs of water weight. She told me to watch three movies and gave me a preprinted list and told me to watch them and then watch them again. She spent about 1 hour with me.
I truly can’t express how fortunate I was to have Dr Fernando’s take care of me. From the very first visit to where I am now. I have come in contact with some of the most amazing people. Along with her whole entire staff, I can’t say enough nice things about them. Truly professional and very caring. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your professionalism, and just in general compassion. Dr Fernandez is truly one of the greatest people I’ve ever had come in contact with. She put me at ease from our very first meeting to my heart catheter. I feel that I could not have been in better hands.

Laura Fernandes, MD, FACC, is a practicing interventional cardiologist at Woodlands Heart and Vascular Institute, located in The Woodlands, Texas.
Dr. Fernandes has shared her expertise in the medical community for over 30 years and specializes in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and venous reflux disease.
Dr. Fernandes graduated from Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, as one of the top ten students in her class. After completion of her research assignment in rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvania, she fulfilled a three-year residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She relocated to the Houston area in 1997 to attend a cardiology fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine that she completed in June 2000. Immediately after that fellowship, she continued her training in interventional cardiology at The Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center. This fellowship was completed in June 2001.
Dr. Fernandes is a kind and compassionate doctor who treats each patient with patience and understanding. She counsels her patients on living a healthy lifestyle and coaches them on how to make good choices for their wellbeing. “No two patients are the same,” said Dr. Fernandes, “I treat each patient as an individual. I take the time to get to know my patients and their lifestyle, which assists me in making a more accurate diagnosis and treatment strategy.” She is focused on serving the cardiac needs of adult patients of all ages, advancing great cardiovascular health, and meeting the individual objectives of every patient.

Dr Fernandes is a gem! I never needed a cardiologist before now, but I thank God for all the things she did on my behalf at a critical time when help was needed.
