My dermatologist wanted me to be seen by my eye doctor within a day to rule out shingles in my eye. My regular optometrist was booked and recommended Dr Negrey. I called their office, spoke w/staff who first arranged me to be seenShow more by their optometrist the same day. Shortly after, the office called to say Dr. Negrey could see if I could come right in to office. The office staff was extremely kind and efficient. Not only did Dr. Negrey rule out any sign of shingles in my eyes, but they dilated my eyes, checked pressure, were able to tell me I had early stages cataracts and mentioned a very small bump/callus on eyes in case later in time I felt like something was in my eye, it could be removed. For not being an existing patient and being seen on a moments notice, I couldn’t have been more pleased with everyone who assisted me. Their quality of service is a rarity and very much appreciated. I will certainly go there in the future for all my eye exams and needs in the future. Kudos to all at Negrey Eye and Dr. Negrey himself.
I choose Negrey Eye because of Dr. Michael Negrey. He is absolutely awesome as a clinician and an overall person. The office location is good and the environment is good. The clinical staff is always great as a clinical team and tShow moreheir customer service. The one area of opportunity is the front desk staff. Some are great and some are okay. The “okay” staff can come across a bit abrasive and many times do not even smile. Even though we have been wearing mask for the last 3 years, one can still tell when someone is not the most pleasant. Also, they should figure out a way to communicate with patients on the phone without the waiting room hearing all the patient’s business. This is the only reason why I did not rate the office an overall 5.
Michael Negrey, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of corneal diseases, cataracts, and refractive surgery at Negrey Eye Associates in Havertown and Media, Pennsylvania. Dr. Negrey specializes in tissue-sparing corneal transplants, cataract surgery, and laser vision correction. In addition, he provides comprehensive eye exams to patients of all ages.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, graduating cum laude in 1995. Prior to medical school, he spent a year investigating cancer treatments at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Institute in Philadelphia. He completed medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College) in Philadelphia in 2000, where he won the Carroll B. Mullen Award for Excellency in Ophthalmology. He interned at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. In 2015, he graduated from the Pennsylvania Medical Society Physician Leadership Program.
He then trained in ophthalmology at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital. There, he assisted in the revision and update of the “Imaging in Ophthalmology” chapter for the Wills Eye Manual 4th edition, which is used by eye care providers throughout the country. After his residency, Dr. Negrey completed a one-year fellowship in refractive surgery, cornea and external disease at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Following his fellowship, he was an associate ophthalmologist for five years at a busy surgical eye practice in New England, performing cataract, corneal, and refractive surgeries.
Dr. Negrey is committed to staying up to date with the latest innovations in ophthalmology and the medical community. He is an active participant in the Wills Eye Residency Program, proctoring residents in cataract surgery and seeing patients in the primary eye care service. Since 2013, he has been an active board member of the Delaware County Medical Society, whose mission is to advocate for physicians and the needs of their patients. Dr. Negrey has also been recognized by his peers as a “Top Doc” in Main Line Today since 2012.
Dr. Negrey and his family reside in Wayne, Pennsylvania. On the weekends, Dr. Negrey and his family often can be found at the Haverford reserve enjoying the playground or playing soccer at a local pick-up game. When he has the chance, Dr. Negrey also devotes his time to charitable programs, having run in the Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago marathons to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Dr Michael Negrey is an outstanding physician who treats his patients with kindness and respect. I require follow-up for glaucoma every couple of months. Dr Negrey always sees me on time and is never rushed. He takes time to give me a thorough exam and explain everything thoroughly. He answers all my questions to my understanding and works with me to assure I am getting the best treatment. He is very willing to assure I am getting eye drops that are affordable but equally effective. His staff is awesome too. They are always pleasant and appear to work well together. Nothing is too much trouble. Pat is great as well and also worthy of mention. She performed my visual field test and was fantastic. Thank you to all!
