About Rachel Schmidt, CMHC

I highly value the role that movement and nature play in our emotional and physical healing. Before becoming a mental health therapist, I earned a Master’s degree in Movement & Leisure Science with an emphasis in Recreational Leadership. That foundation continues to shape my work today, as I integrate creativity, body awareness, and a mind–body approach into therapy. My clinical experience includes working with teens, emerging adults, and adults in residential and outpatient settings. I also bring a strong background in experiential work — leading backpacking trips, facilitating ropes courses, and supporting equine-assisted therapy. In private practice, I offer “walk and talk” therapy on nearby trails for clients who feel called to process their experiences outdoors. Being in nature often creates space for clarity, self-compassion, and a deeper connection to self.
