Yelena Shapiro, DDS, MS, is a conscientious, skilled, and personable prosthodontist, cosmetic and implant dentist who delivers exceptional patient care efficiently and accurately. Dr. Shapiro welcomes new and existing patients and all members of their family to her private practice located in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.
Dr. Shapiro completed specialty training and her Master's degree at Columbia University and then went on to complete an Implant Fellowship from Columbia University. This was extensive training in the field of implant surgery, bone augmentation, and regeneration, as well as guided surgery. Upon completion of her undergraduate program in biochemistry and biophysics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, Dr. Shapiro pursued dental school. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry in New York City. Dr. Shapiro then finished her internship and residency at Long Island College Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in implant dentistry.
Dr. Shapiro is passionate about continuing her education because she wants to be able to offer the latest and most advanced dental treatments to her patients. She holds an additional certification in prosthodontics that she earned during her fellowship at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Dr. Shapiro also maintains a professional membership with the Second District Dental Society.
Patients of Dr. Shapiro commend her willingness to educate them about their oral health. She provides personalized care and lets patients know the details of all possible treatment paths, which allows patients to stay involved in the decision-making process. Surgery is begun after a thorough evaluation of 3D imaging (CT scans), which makes a critical difference in the quality and accuracy of surgeries as well as minimizes complications. When was the last time you were excited to see your dentist? That’s what I feel whether I need a tooth pulled or a regular cleaning. We live in a world of fast service and robotic exchanges, but Yelena is an exceptional outlier. She would answer every question about each step if you asked her! She is 100% of the time, without question, always looking out for her patients. Having a DR I trust to always push me in the right direction and avoid hard costs is something I never take for granted with Yelena and her absolute QUEEN of a dental assistant. Not to mention the warmest presence at the front desk, Ken. I can not recommend this office enough!

Dr. Shapiro is the real life tooth fairy! When half of my tooth and a filling fell out at 5:45 PM, she fit me in after her last patient, gently drilled out my crumbling filling, protected my nerve, and then built up the tooth. This morning I ate my regular breakfast with no discomfort. She and her staff were friendly and reassuring through the whole thing. I am grateful.

This was the best experience I have had with a dentist. I am SO glad I switched from my old dentist to Dr. Shapiro! She was incredibly kind, the visit was so quick, and she explained my x-rays to me in a manner that I could understand and appreciate. I truly cannot thank Dr. Shapiro enough, and I can't believe I'm saying that I can't wait for my next visit.

Dr. Yelena patiently explained with pictures her assistant took, showing all teeth in danger of loosing, as well as gum issues that have to be resolved. 2 molars were pulled out that were beyond repair. Dr. Committed to saving teeth that are okay, and to work on infected gums that will allow me to eat without pain...
