After graduating cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Neuroscience, Dr. Nanavaty earned a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020. She then completed a neurology residency at the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine, followed by a fellowship in epilepsy at Vanderbilt University in 2025.
Throughout her training, Dr. Nanavaty participated in numerous research initiatives and contributed to multiple publications and presentations within the field of neurology. Michael Schmerler, MD, is a double-board-certified internal medicine physician and neurologist at Riverhills Neuroscience, providing high-quality neurology care to people in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Schmerler brings more than 40 years of experience to the practice. He began his career at Northwestern University in Chicago, earning his undergraduate degree, and obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
The following year, Dr. Schmerler completed an internal medicine internship and residency and a neurology residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During that time, he received specialized training in the treatment of neuromuscular disease with a focus on multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuro-ophthalmology.

Onassis A. Caneris, MD, is an interventional pain management specialist at Riverhills Neuroscience in the Norwood area of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Caneris received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in Cincinnati, before completing his fellowship in interventional pain management at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He also served as an anesthesia instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Caneris completed his residency in neurology at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. He specializes in interventional pain management and spine treatment, including discography, radiofrequency lesioning, epidural steroid injections, and nerve blocks.
