Dr. Brittany Johnson is the CEO of Avery's Mental Health. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at LSU Health Science Center in 2013. After working in various healthcare settings, she decided to further her career as a Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree as an Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. After realizing how many of her patients in the general hospital setting required mental healthcare that was often undiagnosed, she then furthered her career again obtaining a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree in 2022. Providing excellent care and serving her patients was the driving force of her educational achievements. Her passion to do her best and go above and beyond is what sets her apart from others.
I am Dr. Ariana Koster, a Board Certified Psychiatrist and a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine. Within the medical field, I specialize in the medical management of mental health conditions, most requiring treatment with medicines.
After finishing my Residency in Psychiatry at Tulane University, I worked for several years at the New Orleans VA Medical Center where I worked as a Staff Psychiatrist in the Women’s Health Program and the Ambulatory Mental Health Clinic. I also had the honor of serving as the Women’s Mental Health Champion for VISN 16 from 2022-2024.
Since completing my residency in 2022, I have remained an Adjunct Faculty Instructor for Tulane University School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
After working for several years at the New Orleans VA Medical Center, I started a private practice so that I have the flexibility and ability to care for the needs of my patients with a focus on my values for providing quality care.
I have been an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2008. I graduated from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. . In the last 15 years, I have provided care in a variety of settings, which include: providing care for hospitalized individuals, outpatient care, Intensive outpatient care, and Nursing Homes. Recently I decided that I would begin a Telehealth Practice. I know that there are many individuals without transportation, and some, feel more comfortable in their own home. I believe Telehealth presents an effective alternative for many different reasons. If I could describe in one sentence one of my primary goals, it would be a quote from the Lion King”. The scene from the movie is when Mufasa appears to Simba. Simba was struggling after the death of Mufasa and in a vision, Simba heard Mufasa say, “Simba, remember who you are…” This is so meaningful to me. When life’s challenges become overwhelming, remember who you are and never quit.
As a psychiatrist from New Orleans, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s unique beliefs, values, and life experiences. With a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry, I specialize in understanding the complexities of addiction and mental health.
I take pride in my ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is heard. I recognize that perspectives on the role of medication in wellness can vary widely, and I strive to incorporate evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions when requested.
In my practice, you will always be an active participant in the formulation of your treatment plan, ensuring that your journey toward wellness is collaborative and personalized.

I am dual board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. I see clients from age 12 and up. People come to treatment for all sorts of reasons — anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulty functioning at work or school, family conflict, challenges in relationships, low self-esteem, or simply a desire to learn more about themselves. As a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with expertise in both medication management and psychotherapy, I can help patients develop a treatment plan that meets their needs. My style is guided by warmth and flexibility, with the goals of helping patients build insight and reduce symptoms.
I create individualized treatment plans, assessing patients' goals, unique life experiences, and biological risk factors. While medication is useful in some cases, I am dedicated to helping my patients achieve lasting change through therapy as well.
