“Dr. Patrick Ethel-King was professional, kind, and took the time to really listen to our concerns. He made the evaluation process clear and comfortable, especially for my child. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking thoughtful, compassionate psychological care.”
Greetings, I’m Phyllis Rooney and I am a licensed independent mental health practitioner, who has over twenty years of experience working with adults and teenagers. I specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, goal setting, LGBTQ issues, drug and alcohol addiction.
I am a graduate of the University of Missouri and have worked with hundreds of individuals and groups. I am trained in several modalities of therapy.
These include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and indfulness based stress reduction.
I strive to provide top-quality care, recognizing the uniqueness of each patient.
Are you always feeling a little bit afraid, anxious and nervous that an anxiety attack is right around the corner? Are you feeling sad but you're ashamed or embarrassed to tell anyone about the bad days you experience? You don't have to feel ashamed of your feelings anymore. I have created a safe space for you to talk about your emotions with no judgment. I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. Together, you and I will figure out what’s really going on.
I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so I have been trained in CBT, holistic therapeutic approaches, motivational interviewing, and person-centered approaches to treatment. The tools that I'll provide you with are tools that can help to lower symptoms and get you back to feeling like yourself again.
My educational background includes an MA in Clinical Psychology, a Clinical Psychology Certification, and a bachelor's in Psychology. I have 5-plus years as a mental health therapist. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in Washington, dedicated to helping adolescents, adults, and couples navigate life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and evidence-based care.
We will work collaboratively to recognize your strengths and address the symptoms you have been experiencing. I look forward to meeting you, listening and getting to know you. Let’s start this journey together!
Integrative Therapist & Holistic Mental Health Specialist
I help individuals and families create meaningful, lasting change—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist, I’ve spent the past 15+ years supporting clients who are navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout, and the complex demands of parenting or professional life. I offer a personalized approach that blends evidence-based psychotherapy with creative expression, somatic tools, and mind–body techniques.
My work is especially aligned with high-achieving parents, professionals, and caregivers who are used to holding it all together—but who also recognize the value of slowing down and investing in their inner life. You don’t have to do this alone.
My Approach
I believe that therapy should go beyond symptom relief. My goal is to support whole-person healing—addressing the root causes of emotional pain, while helping you regulate your nervous system, reconnect with your values, and feel more grounded in your daily life.
Some of the integrative tools I may incorporate include:
Art therapy (no artistic skill needed!)
Alpha-Stim® cranial electrotherapy
Nervous system education & regulation techniques
Nutritional Psychology to support mood, energy, and emotional resilience
Mindful self-care and personalized lifestyle strategies
Whether we’re working together around anxiety, trauma, parenting, or just that persistent feeling of “overwhelm,” our work will be collaborative, compassionate, and customized to you.
