Dr. Tsuji trained at the University of Hawaii, Hilo, and University of Hawaii, Manoa campuses where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, and Master’s in Biochemistry.
He moved from the tropics to the cold of Illinois where he received his Doctorate of Medicine at the Chicago Medical School. Longing for warmer climates, he entered the Naval Service and was stationed at San Diego Medical Center for his surgical internship. In the Navy, Lieutenant Commander Tsuji was the Medical Officer on USS Acadia, Senior Medical Officer on USS Fort McHenry, and the Head of Sports Medicine at Navy Boot Camp back in North Chicago.

After graduating from medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Underwood completed his residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in Richmond, Virginia.
