Sonja grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota and after many years of competitive Irish dance she was motivated to work in the field of physical therapy. She received her Associates degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Anoka-Ramsey Community College in 2018. She worked for two years for a short-term rehab care facility in south Minneapolis, then returned to school to finish her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa. After graduating in spring of 2022, she and her husband Joseph relocated to the Austin area.
Sonja is passionate about her role in helping individuals reach their personal goals with physical therapy and loves watching her patients’ confidence grow through the rehabilitation process. She enjoys coming up with creative ways to make PT fun and finds it an incredibly rewarding field of work.
Outside the clinic, Sonja enjoys teaching Irish dance, reading, crocheting, listening to music & podcasts, playing the piano, watching sports, staying in touch with her friends and family back in the Midwest, working out, and exploring the Austin area with her husband.

Mike is from Dayton, OH, and grew up playing basketball and football. He spent a lot of time in the athletic training room due to ankle injuries in middle and high school. From the time he was in middle school, Mike knew that he wanted to do either Athletic Training or Physical Therapy. He finally decided on Physical Therapy after having a great experience with a PT. Mike got his undergraduate degree in Pre-Physical Therapy at Bluffton University in 2019. After leaving Ohio, Mike went to physical therapy school at Hampton University an HBCU in Hampton, VA. Through his experiences in PT school Mike wanted to further pursue his passion for sports. After graduating Mike moved to Northern Virginia, about 20 minutes outside of Washington, D.C. and began a sports physical therapy residency. During his residency, he got the opportunity to collaborate with personal trainers, and athletic trainers in high school and college settings, and worked with high-level athletes of all levels. During residency, Mike developed a deep appreciation and understanding of athletes following ACL injuries, and ankle sprains, working with runners, and athletes of all backgrounds. After obtaining his Sports Certified Specialist certificate, he moved to Texas to get out of the cold of the Midwest. Since starting at ASM, Mike has obtained his dry-needling certificate to further his skills in Physical Therapy. In his free time, Mike likes to listen to music specifically R&B and Hip-Hop, going to the movies, playing basketball, and going to local Austin sporting events.
