Laura Fertak is a long-time Houstonian who is one of the most experienced Physician Assistants in the Medical Center. She graduated Texas A&M University and received her advanced PA degree from UTMB, graduating with honors and a member of Alpha Eta Society. She has worked in healthcare for nearly 30 years beginning with orthopedic oncology, authoring a chapter on bone tumors, and returned to sports medicine orthopedics in 2005. She is often able to evaluate acutely injured patients same day, order the necessary imaging including X-rays and MRI, perform injections and initiate physical therapy. She also assists in the operating room and with all aspects of pre and post-operative care. Laura is a member of several physician assistant professional organizations including the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, and Physician Assistants on Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Shannon Sloan received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in 2007 and then went on to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in the Houston Medical Center in 2010.
