With a concentration in pediatric treatments as well as working with patients with neurological and orthopedic issues, Teresa Bristol, PT, Cert DN, DPT, opened Physical Therapy Works, an independent practice now located in East Point, Georgia, in 2014 with a focus on holistic patient health. Teresa uses her knowledge of the human body to reduce impairments, restore function and improve the quality of life of others in the Atlanta area.
After graduating with honors with a degree in physical therapy from Florida A&M University, Teresa launched her career in Georgia at the Palmyra Regional Medical Center and has since worked in a variety of settings with individuals of all ages.
Teresa was an adjunct professor at her alma mater, where she taught neurology and orthopedic physical therapy for several years. Her passion for education and desire to help others prompted Teresa to fulfill her lifelong goal of obtaining a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Nova Southeastern University, where she worked on her dissertation and research on low back pain. She received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018.
Teresa connects with a variety of organizations to increase community awareness about health, wellness, and fitness. She provided court-side treatment for Albany Technical College’s basketball team and delivered humanitarian aid to natives of Port de Paix, Haiti. Based on her service and volunteerism, Teresa has been recognized with the Outstanding Service Award from Albany Technical College, a Humanitarian Service Medal following Hurricane Andrew in Florida as well as the Army Achievement Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal, among many other recognitions.
In addition, Teresa has served as a clinical instructor and supervisor for physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students as well as volunteers. Teresa has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG), as well as the Orthopedic, Neurological, and Pediatric sections over the course of her career.
