Dr. Jessen Mukalel Is not your typical pain management doctor. He has a unique style crafted based on relationships he has built with his patients and their needs as well as his own challenges as a pain patient himself. Dr. Mukalel has taken the road less traveled to get him to where he is now. He is an advocate for opioid free pain management by utilizing reversible diagnostic injections to identify pain generators and predict the success of therapeutic interventional procedures. Therapeutic procedures consisting of nerve ablation, neuro-stimulation, percutaneous sacroiliac joint fusions, minimally invasive lumbar decompressions, regenerative bone marrow stem cell therapies, and platelet rich plasma therapy. By specializing in a limited range of treatment options, Dr. Mukalel has found that he can offer close to, if not 100% pain relief, without pain medications or steroids. Unique is a key word defining Dr. Mukalel’s background. He began his training in Hungary, Europe, and finished in the Netherlands Antilles Islands in 2006. He started off with surgical training and converted to specializing in Anesthesia in Chicago, Illinois. From there he completed his acute pain management and regional anesthesia fellowship in Pittsburgh and continued on as a fellowship director in the same field at the University of Texas. He continued his practice as the director of Pain Management and Obstetrical Anesthesia at Bayfront Medical Center in his home town in St Petersburg, Florida. From there, he underwent his second pain management fellowship, in Chronic Interventional Pain in Clearwater Florida, at the Florida Spine Institute. He went on to owning his own practice in Tampa, Florida, and eventually to where he is currently, The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Mukalel Credits his mentors in guiding his philosophies in care and constant need for learning. His greatest teachers however have been his patients. Listening to their problems and empowering them to overcome their acute or chronic pain issues with his modern and innovative techniques.

Dr. Mukalel has helped thousands of patients over multiple states over more than ten years of practice. He thinks outside of the box and believes that opioids are not the long term solution for patients in pain.
