ABOUT US

Summit Health and Wellness Center offers compassionate and holistic psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults in Norman, Oklahoma. The practice welcomes patients from every area of Oklahoma and offers telemedicine to simplify their ability to receive the mental health services they need. With Keenan Smart, MD, at the helm, the practice aspires to empower each patient to become their most authentic selves.

Each patient receives individualized care and the dedicated attention of the specialized team at Summit Health and Wellness Center, who together hold board-certifications in general psychiatry and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry. The team at Summit Health and Wellness Center helps patients recognize their underlying problems, optimize their strengths, and learn the coping skills they need to overcome their emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges.

Patients receive complete care at Summit Health and Wellness Center, beginning with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and continuing with treatment that includes therapy and medication management. Dr. Smart believes that less is more when it comes to medication, so he strives to start treatment with therapy that fits each patient’s personality and goals. Patients may benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy, collaborative problem solving, mentalization-based treatment, and dialectical behavior therapy.

Summit Health and Wellness Center also provides eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a specialized therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The practice is one of the few EMDR providers in Oklahoma. Summit Health and Wellness Center also offers medical marijuana evaluations to determine if certain patients qualify for a license to use medical marijuana. Summit Health and Wellness Center diagnoses and treats the full scope of mental health disorders, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, and ADHD. Telemedicine is available with the HIPAA-secure Google Meet® platform.
