I have seen Dr. Cubas for years. Having lived in different states, I have had a lot of different primary physicians. he is the type of physician that even if I moved again, I would fly back to see him. he takes time to address my Show moreconcerns, and he looks at me holistically as a person. Remembers information about me, that is beyond what doctors slip in their notes about their patients. He truly is an astonishing individual and is the top reason I come to Associates MD. I’ve always had a pleasant experience with the staff, and I’m very grateful to have such an amazing physician!
My doctor and his assistant are great. The check-in staff seem unconcerned. Some are slow to acknowledge you and seem like they are just watching the clock. Then, at closing time, the support staff are the first ones out the door Show moreand they nearly trample over you to get to their cars. My most recent visit was on a Friday, so I guess that may have had an effect. Maybe I need to have an appointment earlier in the week or earlier in the day. This is the first time that I was not too thrilled about my visit.
Adela Fernandez-Mirza, MD, is an experienced general surgeon at AssociatesMD in Plantation, Florida. Dr. Fernandez-Mirza joins the team from a diverse background with training in General Surgery.
She attended St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine, and after several medical missions abroad to Nigeria, Dominica, and Bolivia, she discovered her love of surgery. She began her residency training at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island, and completed it at the University of South Florida.
She earned numerous awards and recognitions during her residency, including Humanism and Excellence in Teaching, induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and Thoracic Advanced Techniques in VATS from Brigham & Women’s Hospital. She was the recipient of the Society of Thoracic Surgeon Scholarship. Her passion for medicine and surgery laid the groundwork for serving the underprivileged at home and abroad.
In addition to practicing medicine, she performs pro-bono work for political asylum seekers in countries where atrocities exist. She is committed to providing quality healthcare to her patients and seeks high standards for their care. She is fluent in English and Spanish. She has conducted research, co-published with world-renowned surgeons, and presented at national and international conferences.
Among these publishings and presentations is breast-conserving therapy for breast cancer and gene therapy for lung cancer, as well as presented at the General Thoracic Surgery Club Conference in San Diego, California, and the European Society for Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery Conference in Nice, France.

Just wonderful a great bunch of staff.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Adela Fernandez since 2013. She’s compassionate, a great listener and a very thorough doctor. Couldn’t be happier! The office was clean and the staff was great.
I can't actually recall how I came to be a patient of Dr Adela Fernandez, but I'm sure glad that happened. Not only is she an outstanding primary care provider, but she has referred me to several remarkable specialists. Dr. Fernandez has a wonderful staff also. I highly recommend her.

Nice visit. Received notifications to confirm. Sign in was pleasant. Waiting time minimal close to appointment time. (Approx. 5-10 min wait). Check-in was also pleasant and courteous. Dr. Fernandez listened patiently and attentively. Checkout and scheduling was prompt and easy.
