Best doctor’s office I’ve ever visited. They answer every call, are able to book appointments within 3 days of your requested time frame, are extremely thorough in explaining procedures and being transparent about results. And, I Show morefind the Dr.’s demeanor as well as the staff very personable and friendly. I have mild asthma and needed pre-op medical clearance… without insurance, I was so worried. But this staff genuinely cares about patient care and they did such a thorough job of making sure I had the right labs, breathing tests, and chest X-ray (at reasonable rates, too). I am thankful to have them so close to home.
With COPD and Sleep Apena, high blood pressure, cholesterol no Doctor would help me and I truly thought I was going to die because doctors get to choose who they will help, and who they will not! I literally didn’t think he’d accShow moreept me as a patient because I smoke. He not only took me on as a patient but has offered to help on my road to quitting. I’m very grateful there are human beings that are still willing to help! I’m blessed
Alaa El-Gendy, MD, is an experienced pulmonologist and the founder of Florida Lung & Sleep Associates in Lehigh Acres and Fort Myers, Florida. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, and critical care. Dr. El-Gendy has a special interest in asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and sleep disorders. He is affiliated with Lee Memorial Health System. He has a well-deserved reputation for providing excellent, compassionate, and personalized care.
Dr. El-Gendy was raised in Cairo, Egypt, and attended Al-Azhar University. He received his doctor of medicine degree in 1982 and attended graduate school at Ohio State University. Later, Dr. El-Gendy completed a three-year internal medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then completed a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. During his residency and fellowship, he rotated through the East Orange and Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospitals.
Upon the completion of his fellowship, he served as an assistant professor of medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. Subsequently, he became the director of the ICU at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Dr. El-Gendy is licensed to practice medicine in the states of Florida, Arizona, New Jersey, New York, California, Iowa, and Pennsylvania.
Although Dr. El-Gendy runs a primarily office-based sleep and pulmonary medicine practice, he maintains active staff privileges at Lee Health: Lee Memorial Hospital, Health Park, Cape Coral Hospital, and Gulf Coast Hospital.

Appointment was on time. Physicians assistant took time to gather all my information. Doctor reviewed my information and suggested we do some test and check for sleep apnea. Very friendly.

Great staff and experience.
I was not prepared for Dr El-Gendy but he was prepared for me. He pulled as many medical records as possible including chest x-rays from last year and mentioned things other physicians. Was I impressed, you can bet on it.
