As always, Dr. Jhaveri is thorough and competent. He takes time to explain findings on his exam. Both he and his staff are efficient and courteous. My first encounter with Dr. Jhaveri was more of an emergency visit. He understood Show moreimmediately what was going on and prescribed a treatment that corrected the condition I was experiencing. He also followed up with me to make sure the treatment was working. Definitely skilled!!!
Chirag Jhaveri, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Retina Consultants of Austin. Dr. Jhaveri provides retinal surgery to patients in Austin, Lakeway, Marble Falls, and Round Rock, Texas.
Dr. Jhaveri completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a part of an accelerated honors program. After graduating, he returned to his hometown in Houston and attended the Baylor College of Medicine.
He later received internship training at the Emory University School of Medicine, as well as residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and the Ochsner Medical Center, where served as a chief resident during his senior year. He then completed an intense fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago gaining invaluable experiences in rare retinal diseases.
Dr. Jhaveri holds special interest in complex vitreoretinal diseases as well as common eye conditions like diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
As an integral member of the practice family since 2012, Dr. Jhaveri is proud to provide expert eye care in vitreo-retinal diseases to patients at Retina Consultants of Austin. He also served as vice chairman of the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR).
Dr. Jhaveri is actively involved in research for new and better treatment options for retinal diseases at Austin Research Center for Retina and is part of numerous clinical trials as principal investigator and sub-investigator. He has also published several papers.

I was brought back to be worked up for my eye exam rather quickly by the technician with the numerous eye tests and wait in between each. However, I was finally seen 1 hour and 20 minutes after my appointment time by the doctor. Sitting there waiting with my eyes dilated. Be prepared to wait and not be told the provider is running late. Unclear if wait was due to emergencies or every patient having a complicated concern or plain overbooking. I even asked the front desk at check in if the provider was on time and told seemed to be and would be called back soon giving me hope. Provider answered my questions and feel did not rush me but I was late for a work appointment due to this.

Dr Jhaveri is professional, thorough, and personable. While showing me the images of my eyes, he explained in detail what he saw and where he was concerned. He was up front and honest, yet Compassionate, not brutal. He demonstrated that he was willing to move quickly rather than taking a wait ‘n see approach where applicable. I feel confident that I am in good hands.
