I just had my first appointment with Dr Vial and it was probably the best doctor's visits I have ever had. She was patient and listened, digging out all the relevant information from my medical history. I think a good doctor is liShow moreke a detective - pieces together information and uses judgement and experience to diagnose - rather than relying on tests which are often inconclusive - and she embodied this, piecing information together. She also gave me as much time as needed, answering all my questions - the appointment lasted well over 2 hours and I didn't for a moment feel rushed. I have a high sense of confidence in her treatment and am really happy to have discovered her at Soho Gynaec.
I have come to Dr. Harris for many years as I wouldn't ever want to go anywhere else. Dr. Harris is probably the rarest gem in all of Manhattan (or anywhere else for that matter ) when it comes to gynecologists as she gives such pShow moreersonalized attention, actually listens to you, and is really smart, experienced, and knows what she is doing. Dena Harris, MD is a Board Certified Gynecologist and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy specialist currently concentrating her practice in chronic sexual, vulvar, and pelvic pain, as well as general, adolescent and menopausal gynecology. She was a medical pioneer, as the first OB/GYN in the SOHO area and also one of the first female OB/GYNs in private practice in New York City. After becoming partners with Dr. Deborah Coady in 1980, she co-founded SOHO OB/GYN women’s health care center.
She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972, and received her medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College (now part of Drexel University) in 1976. Dr. Harris completed her internship and residency at NYU Medical Center, where she is currently affiliated as a Clinical Assistant Professor. In 1991, Dr. Harris co-authored "Recovering from a Hysterectomy".
Dr. Harris is currently a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease for her original research on vulvodynia-related small fiber neuropathy. She is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, International Pelvic Pain Society, National Vulvodynia Association and The New York Gynecologic Society.
Dr. Harris has devoted her 30 year career to providing quality medical care. She combines excellent diagnostic and therapeutic skills while exercising great empathy and compassion for her patients. She has been named to the Top Doctors lists in New York by both New York Times Magazine and Super Doctors, as well as America’s Top Doctors through Castle Connolly for over 10 years.
