Very easy to get an appointment. Thorough review of medical history and the presenting problem before presenting possible plans of care/ treatment. After examination confirmed treatment recommendations and considered what my prefeShow morerences were. Explained procedure every step of the way. Very considerate of comfort level and was compassionate towards the need for distraction from the procedure. After the procedure, Dr Colvin thoroughly explained post op home care, answered any questions, was very personable and even took the time to have a conversation about a common interest. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable. One of the best experiences I have had with any medical providers since my primary doctor, Michael Royfe retired.

Donald Colvin, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon at Fairfax Colon & Rectal Surgery, PC.
Dr. Colvin earned his undergraduate degree and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida in Gainesville. After graduation, he completed a surgical internship and a general surgery residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland (formerly Bethesda Naval Hospital).
Dr. Colvin has held various academic positions over the course of his career, including associate professor of surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond (formerly Medical College of Virginia) and clinical assistant professor of surgery at Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia.
Dr. Colvin loves teaching up-and-coming medical professionals. He regularly instructs surgery residents at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed, either. Dr. Colvin earned the title of Teacher of the Year for Colon & Rectal Surgery in 2005 and 2008.
Dr. Colvin proudly holds membership in several professional organizations. He’s a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Outside of work, Dr. Colvin enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He’s also an avid fly fisherman who enjoys sailing and building wooden boats.
