Faina Akselrod, MD, FACOG, FACS, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. At Advanced Gynecology & Surgery in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, New York. She focuses on providing individualized gynecologic care to women of all ages.
Dr. Akselrod earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York, Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn before going on to receive training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Nassau University Medical Center.
Shortly after completing her training, Dr. Akselrod was sought out to serve as the medical center’s director of family planning and colposcopy. While in this prestigious role, Dr. Akselrod greatly contributed to national and international clinical research in the fields of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Oncology.
Today, she is a fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Akselrod always places the doctor/patient relationship above all else, striving to ensure that all of her patients receive the individualized care they deserve. That’s why she and Genia Bekker, MD, FACOG, FACS, launched Advanced Gynecology & Surgery in 2006.

Very nice personal , professional doctors, I like this medical office.
I had a 9:30 am appt with Dr. Akselrod. I signed in at 9:15 , filled out my paperwork, and the receptionist collected my copay asap. There hardly wasn't anyone in the waiting room at that time. I was waiting patiently and at 10:30 went up to tell the receptionist that it was 10:30 and I haven't been seen yet. Her response was that she doesn't know what's going on in the back. No apology whatsoever. I sat down again and saw other people after me were being seen. I went up to her again. 2 minutes later I was seen. No apology whatsoever. I felt like someone off the street wanting a free visit.
