Gary Weinstein, MD, FCCP, is a board-certified pulmonologist and critical care specialist serving patients in Dallas, Texas. With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Weinstein is known for his commitment to excellence in patient care, leadership in hospital medicine, and dedication to education and mentoring.
Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Weinstein earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Kansas in Kansas City. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the same institution before relocating to Dallas to pursue advanced fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical School.
Dr. Weinstein is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has built a strong reputation for treating complex respiratory conditions, with particular expertise in asthma and chronic cough. Throughout his career, he has maintained a thriving outpatient pulmonary practice and has been deeply involved in hospital leadership.
He has practiced his entire career at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, beginning in 1991 while still in his third year of fellowship training at UT Southwestern. From 1994 to 2023, he served as Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Since the fall of 2023, he has focused his efforts on outpatient pulmonary medicine, continuing to provide expert care to patients in Dallas and Plano.
Dr. Weinstein has been consistently recognized for his excellence in medicine. He has been named to D Magazine’s list of Best Doctors every year since 2001 and has been honored by Texas Monthly as one of the Top Doctors in Texas annually since 2006. His clinical expertise has also been featured in U.S. News & World Report. He received the Physician of the Year award from Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas in October 2014 and has twice been honored with the Robert L. North, MD Teaching Award by the Internal Medicine Housestaff at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Weinstein enjoys a full and active life outside of medicine. He has lived in Dallas since 1989 and remains proud of his Kansas roots. He is married to Dr. Donna Casey, and together they enjoy gardening and spending time with their large family of pets, which includes three dogs, two cats, a turtle, a parrot, and two horses. He is also a proud father to two adult children.
