Came in for inserts for my shoes but had an issues of a of my toes. Doctor took care of it and said we will take care of the inserts when we check the toes. Like the doctor very much on the time he spends treating and explaining Show morecare while asking questions to help me understand what going on. Always answering questions that I have. Very good man and doctor.

Dr. Ian VanderGulik is a Foot and Ankle Surgeon who recently joined South Texas Foot Surgeons in San Antonio, Texas. Known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach, Dr. VanderGulik is dedicated to helping patients of all ages regain mobility and live pain-free lives.
Dr. VanderGulik began his path in healthcare with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from The Citadel, establishing a strong foundation in health and wellness. Following Kent State University of Podiatric Medicine, he completed a surgical residency in Maryland, training at Baltimore VA Medical Center, University of Maryland, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. VanderGulik pursued a Foot and Ankle Surgical Fellowship with San Antonio Sports Medicine Associates, gaining advanced expertise in sports-related injuries and complex foot and ankle conditions.
Specializing in surgical and non-surgical treatments, Dr. VanderGulik provides care for various conditions, including fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, and complex deformities. As an active Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast, Dr. VanderGulik understands athletes' demands and challenges and is passionate about helping patients return to the activities they love. Dr. Vanderbilt was extremely knowledgeable about what was wrong with my foot and explained everything—what was wrong, what type of surgery was needed, and answered all of my questions. He was very kind, as was the staff at the clinic.

Dr. VanderGulik’s office got me in asap due to the severity of an infected ingrown toenail that an ER didn’t fix properly several days earlier. Once I arrived, everyone was very friendly, caring and made me feel like I mattered. Once the nurse got me to a room, Dr. VanderGulik came in and was very professional. He looked at my infected toe & immediately explained what needed to happen, to keep this from happening again. I was a little overwhelmed because I have anxiety but he & his nurse were very reassuring and understanding given my situation and quickly put me at ease. I must say the entire experience was outstanding and I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure or afterwards! He and his nurse explained very thoroughly how to manage/treat once I was at home. They also called in the correct antibiotics and pain/anti-inflammatory medications. He set up a follow appointment for two weeks and I was on my way. If you have any foot issues and are thinking about going to an ER vs seeing a podiatrist…Call and see DR. IAN VANDERGULIK! Take it from someone who learned the hard way…You will be thankful you have the outstanding and knowledgeable Dr. Ian VanderGulik taking care of you. He’s a lifesaver and my hero!

Wonderful staff, Dr. VanderGulik took the time to show and explain my x-rays. Listened to my concerns and walked me through my options.
