Doctor James Kelly was very nice. I came with an eye irritation. I was there for the first time 3 months before just for routine check. Was very satisfied that time. However the wait time was over the usual. I was there for ovShow moreer 2 hours just waiting. Even the girls at the desk couldn't understand why it was taking soo long. It had nothing to do with Dr. Kelly but with the girl that does a routine eye exam before you see the doctor. I explained I had all that 3 months ago, but she insisted and seemed to be having a bad day. I told her I needed a script for my eye not glasses and I was not going to continue the other routine tests she wanted to perform. I just know she had me waiting a long time til I told the girls in the front desk that perhaps I should come at another time. I was leaving. That's when the ball started to roll. I was called 10 min. After. Really, it's a nice office and basically they take most insurances. The doctors are great and the staff except that 1 girl just messed it up. That's why I only gave it 3 stars.
Dr. James Kelly was very good. This was my 2nd visit there in 3 months. I came with what I thought looked and felt like an eye infection but was told it is an allergy. The only thing distressing to me was the wait time. I got thShow moreere at 1:33pm. And left there 3 hours later!!! Not because of Dr. Kelly but the girl who checked my eye pressure and the letter chart. She kept on putting people that came after me , in front of me. Even the girls in the front desk questioned her actions. Julissa y Ansel were very apologetic and very sweet. But I don't ķnow what bee stung the girl who saw me first. She put me back in the waiting room for over 30 min. More before seeing Dr. Kelly. This is why I'm only giving it 3 stars this time instead of 5.
James Kelly, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Eye Care & Surgery in New York City, which has two locations in Washington Heights, Manhattan, and another near the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, right across the street from Yankee Stadium. Dr. Kelly specializes in treating numerous eye disorders, including dry eyes, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dr. Kelly attended Stuyvesant High School in Lower Manhattan and earned his undergraduate and medical school degrees at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He completed a surgical internship at New York’s Maimonides Medical Center in Borough Park, Brooklyn. There, he rotated through numerous specialties, including trauma surgery, general surgery, cardiothoracic intensive care, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and internal medicine.
Dr. Kelly finished his medical training with a residency in ophthalmology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Glen Oaks, Queens, where he served as chief resident. He maintains his advanced credentials to stay current with the latest advances in ophthalmology. Dr. Kelly also helps teach the Osler board review class.
He is currently accepting new patients and welcomes them to Eye Care & Surgery.
