I finally let my wife talk me into changing pain doctors. I have been with her (unnamed) for over 10 years. Dr Stephens and his staff have helped me more in the last two months than ISHE has even tried to help me in the last tenShow more years. Instead of a cattle drove like she ran, I am treated like a real person! I saw HER once a year. I see Dr. Stephens every time I go to the office. Medicare pays $500 for drug testing. SHE made sure to test me every month! Dr S checked me on my first visit and hasn't bothered since. I have been consistent in following treatment plans for the 20 years I have been on morphine. It is about time somebody acknowledged that!

James W. Stephens, DO, is an anesthesiologist and fellowship-trained interventional pain medicine physician at Interventional Pain Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
A native of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Dr. Stephens received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University (OSU). He attended the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete both his anesthesiology residency and interventional pain fellowship at OU Health Sciences Center. He was lucky enough to spend a large portion of his pain fellowship with private practice pain physicians who volunteered their time to educate him.
Dr. Stephens enjoys caring for his patients. His goal is to lessen your pain and figure out why you are in pain. He believes that every pain physician must be an expert diagnostician. In order to be that, you not only have to have excellent medical knowledge, but you also have to listen to your patients.
Dr. Stephens enjoys his specialty and helping patients live happier, healthier lives. He practices the full scope of interventional pain management and has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical treatments for pain as well as injection therapies. Dr. Stephens is a national expert in the minimally invasive treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. He keeps up with the latest treatments for pain, analyzes them, and implements them in his practice when it is the right choice for his patients. Dr. Stephens enjoys all aspects of practicing medicine, especially reading and researching new ways to help his patients. His goal is always to decrease pain and improve function by utilizing the least invasive method possible.
Besides his medical practice, Dr. Stephens is busy at home, where he enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife and three young children. They enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring their favorite getaway, Beavers Bend State Park.

I think he is very gifted and knowledgeable in his field. He tries his best to be gentle. He seems to be concerned and takes time to listen to me.

I was seen in a timely manner. Kristen was friendly and professional. Dr Stephens took time to listen and made recommendations. He was respectful and inspired confidence. It was a very positive experience.
It was my first visit and an evaluation. All of the ladies in the office were kind, friendly, I was always greeted with smiles. Dr Stephens was also very nice and kind. I'm grateful that he's given me a chance to prove myself as a responsible patient who will follow his directions to a "T" because I know that I have to earn his trust as my pain management doctor.
The procedure was explained and was quick. I was treated with care. I was not allowed to leave until it was safe for me to do so. The staff was caring and helpful.

Very professional and always polite. Everyone is very friendly. Doctor Stevens has always been very polite and professional. Always concerned about your pain area and listening to all you have to say. Have told several people about his clinic, I know that about three people have gone to see Dr. Stevens and had relief still going. He’s honest and truly cares about his patients.

My first appointment with Dr. Stephens. He came highly recommended and I totally agree with them. He is very knowledgeable and listens to what you have to say. Not only is he friendly but he is very caring. I am glad that I made this appointment with him and I look forward to the treatment that he has suggested for the future.
As always when doc does my injections, I feel at ease and comfortable during procedure. I never worry about the shots because I know I am in great care with both doctors at interventional pain management. They are the only ones I will let perform injections on me! I've had terrible hip problems my entire life! So that says a lot. They make sure you are physically & mentally comfortable, use xray guided imaging to be sure they get the right spot and there is virtually no pain. I highly recommend doc Stephens & doc Phillips to everyone I know!

This was my first visit and prior to my appointment I was very skeptical, not because of the doctor, but because I’ve been through so much over the past 7 years. To begin, the lady at the front desk was very polite and helpful when I had questions regarding my initial paperwork. We were also very early to my appointment and they made it work. His assistant was very pleasant and understanding as we explained everything I had been through. It’s a lot and she received the information and typed it all in quickly while also reviewing feedback on recent MRI. When doctor came in he was very polite and I actually felt like he listened to my concerns. He was not pushy regarding medications and my lack of taking certain types. I appreciated the “let’s try this” slow pace approach. I did not feel as if I was being rushed and pushed through a cattle guard. I’m excited to see how things work out.

After ablation of neck nerves and a follow-on injection, I am mostly pain free. Before the treatment I was really miserable and had serious difficulty sleeping. Dr. Stephens also helped me with bilateral sciatica pain years ago, which is why I returned to him for my neck pain. He listens well and is prompt is delievering treatment.
Dr Stephen's is amazing. Usually it's a short visit with not much to say. This visit was more extensive and he was up to the task. I appreciate him very much.

I’ve been visiting Pain Management clinics for over 15 years because of my long-term condition I must take time to share my visit to Dr. Stephen’s clinic, and I finally feel at ease. Although my condition is a long-term process becoming a patient of Dr. Stephen’s gives me hope and I feel appreciated as a patient and as a human, he listens to me. The entire clinic staff is respectful and attentive during my visits -I wish I would it have found him 15 years ago. Thank y'all!
