Whenever I go to this practice, my experience is that “they’ve got me.” Even as a person with a fairly anxious temperament, I can relax with the hygienist’s care (have The good fortune of seeing Kristyn for many years). And theShow more same goes for Dr. Opperman: I have never felt better informed nor better, more sensitively taken care of with a dentist than in his care. Everyone in the practice also have a sense of humor; and seem to consistently treat each other with warmth, kindness and concern as well as me. Bonus: maybe the cutest “therapy dog” I have ever seen, a gentle, sweet presence; not-intrusive but right there to engage or cuddle if you care to invite him. Thanks to all! Show moreI never worry about getting my gums jabbed with an instrument because they are so deft in their craft. The billing person has been very helpful in accessing my insurance company and explaining what they will, or not, cover and billing is clear and efficient. At the top of this apparently happy staff is Dr. Opperman, kind, gentle, supportive, knowledgeable and skilled. I'm very happy to be getting my dental care in such a lovely place. And they have a sweet dog that's hypoallergenic. What more could one want?!
Joshua R. Opperman, DMD, is a family dentist serving patients in the Hollywood District of Northeast Portland. He is honored to be the dentist of choice for many families and enjoys getting to know his patients as they grow and thrive.
Education has always played a central role in Dr. Opperman’s life. A Portland native, he chose to remain in the area to complete his dental training at OHSU School of Dentistry. Now in practice for more than a decade, Dr. Opperman continues to pursue additional educational opportunities to stay abreast of the latest developments in dentistry technology and techniques.
Patient education is also a passion of Dr. Opperman’s. He views his role as a partner in the dental health of each patient and is committed to educating those in his care on how to best maintain a healthy smile. wanted to wait with the review till I get treatment (crown, ect.) but trust everything will be perfect then, too! first time at office: doctor's excellent; trust his diagnosis & felt comfortable. hygienist was very, very good & had knowledge and advice for me I don't believe I had gotten before. choosing & staying with a particular office depends on more than the skill of the doctor & quality of care overall. but I think this office is definitely worth a try!

Dr Opperman’s family dog is the greeter and the atmosphere is calming and comfortable. I’ve been a patient for many years and the staff feels like family. Every one is a top grade professional and I highly recommend their services.

1st visit everyone was friendly & made me feel comfortable. Dr. Opperman explained everything to me and also listened to me. His entire staff is excellent. Dr Opperman is fantastic. Super nice and knowledgeable. His practice is well run and professional. They are honest and trustworthy. No trying to upsell you on things you don’t need, which I encountered in other practices. Highly recommend.
Everyone at this dental office is wonderful :) Super friendly, helpful, and kind. Quick note: there's a dog on staff here that wanders the front of the office. It's a lovely dog! Very friendly, quiet, and welcoming. Something to be aware of though for any new patients who don't want that sort of surprise.

I had a whole molar come out while flossing Dec. 24th, a surprise! On Dec26th I called the emergency number, not knowing if this was a "real" emergency. Dr. fit me into the schedule on the next day for an evaluation and I learned what to do until a week later when there was a long enough appointment available. His advice was just what I needed.
