About Kara Mcgowan

Kara McGowan, LMSW, is a licensed master social worker and a member of the clinical team at Rappore, a therapy services and medication management practice based in Manhattan, New York. 

Drawing from a person-centered and compassionate approach, Kara works with emerging adults and adults to contextualize, confront, and overcome life stressors and a variety of mental health challenges. Kara incorporates culturally sensitive evidence-based practice techniques into her client encounters, such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, mindfulness tools, and motivational interviewing, to achieve client goals and incite long-lasting change. 

Kara earned her Masters in Social Work from the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. She routinely utilizes her cross-cultural experiences and multicultural identity to connect with a wide client population and to foster strong and successful therapeutic bonds and outcomes.
