Nowadays I have zero expectations. After a year long infection without guidance I feel I’m depending on just me. However it took a year and lots of research. I saw Dr. Rispoli because I’m dealing with other issue that my other doctor gave it a name but no referral of any sort. I was told to go to the pharmacy get a cream. My PT of an angel told me that I needed to see Dr. Rispoli. She told me my current doctor won’t know. I didn’t even know doctors like Dr. Rispoli existed. Asking the right person is key. Dr Rispoli saw me before my appointment was supposed to start. Two minutes into the appointment I started to tear up out of nowhere. I got emotional. She heard me. I didn’t have to explain, she just knew right away who exactly I needed to see. I got that she is very picky which doctors she refers. She certainly is a doctor of action. My kind. A few hours later she organized for me to received a phone call from that other doctors office to set up my appointment. It’s been 15+ years. I never had the courage to ask anyone and when I did I was dismissed. She also prescribe me a medication that she was surprised nobody ever thought of. How is that for efficiency! Grateful to her and even have gained hope.
I’ve had nothing but a positive experience with Dr. Rispoli. I started with an initial tele-visit. I felt I was given all the time I needed to explain my condition, understand the doctors take on it, Q&A, and recommended next stepShow mores. Because thoracic back issues can have various root causes and I have other health issues that restrict my options, her philosophy was to start with the least invasive procedure, and work on to others if needed. She was extremely accommodating. Because I only needed an office visit for a 10-min injection, she gave me the option to “fit in” that same day or the next day w/o scheduling an appt. I did that yesterday and am waiting for results in the next few days and a follow up appt in 2 weeks. I have been dealing with this back issue for nearly 3 years. Previously, I’ve seen a GP, an acupuncturist, and a Spine Doc. These seem to be the most progressive and promising options being pursued to date.

Double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Management, Dr. Rispoli has a profound empathy for patients suffering severe or prolonged pain. Dr. Rispoli studied for her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She was co-captain for the Division-1 women’s soccer team and, for four consecutive years, was a National Athletic Honor Society member. Dr. Rispoli earned her medical degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, and completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Rispoli’s interest in the treatment of pain led her to complete an interventional pain medicine fellowship under the Weill Cornell Tri-Institute Pain Fellowship program in New York City, doing rotations at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Rispoli specializes in advanced neuromodulation (spinal cord stimulation) techniques, pelvic pain (both male and female), ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, and regenerative medicine techniques such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or stem cell therapy.

Dr. Rispoli‘s strong recommendation to pursue physical therapy was right on. In particular, OC Physical Therapy, which she recommended has been outstanding. (I’ve had Physical Therapy twice before in my adult life. I would say those experiences were moderately helpful.) My therapist recently, Patrick, developed very custom massages and exercises for me, and even researched my particular intercostal issue. This therapy has been far away the largest contribution to my recovery after 3 years of struggle. Time and my diligence will tell.
