About Dr. Maria Valdes, MD

Maria Theresa Valdes, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician at Angel Kids Pediatrics in Jacksonville, Amelia Island, and Saint Johns, Florida.

Dr. Valdes is the type of provider who is extremely patient and thorough during your child’s visit. She is very understanding of all of your concerns as a parent, and believes there are no dumb questions. Dr. Valdes has a special place in her heart for children and their mental health. So if you have any questions or concerns regarding that, she is eager to assist.

In Dr. Valdes’ free time, she enjoys going to art museums and reading books, especially any of the Harry Potter series. When she’s not reading books, she loves to spend time with her dog, Muffin.

Dr. Valdes is a native of Holguin, Cuba. As a young girl, she moved to Los Angeles, California, and later moved to the far east of the United States to reside in Jacksonville. 

After attending a University in California majoring in Medical Microbiology, Dr. Valdes attended medical school in the Dominican Republic and completed her residency at Michigan State-affiliated hospitals. She is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She joined Angel Kids Pediatrics in 2015 and is bilingual in Spanish.
