I have been a patient of Dr. Santos’ for years now (and so are my friends & family) and am more familiar with the Woodside location and staff. My experience at Woodside has always been pleasant but I have to say my last annual at Show morethe Rego Park location wasn’t that great. The clinic is rather difficult to find if you’re a first-timer and I wish someone had told me how to get to the office when they called me for my appointment reminder. I ended up being 20 minutes late to my appointment because I couldn’t find the office. No one could pick up my call when I was hoping to ask, I was just on hold waiting to speak with someone. When I got there, I expected to wait of course but I didn’t expect to wait 1 & 1/2 hours to be seen for my annual especially since they knew I was fasting for the blood tests. Apparently they had forgotten I was a patient and thought I was waiting on someone else which would explain why someone who walked-in after me was seen first (I just assumed it was an emergency). At some point, they caught on and they really did apologize for the prolonged wait I went through. Then they promptly led me into the room for my initial assessment, consultation and sample collection. My entire actual appointment only took about 30 minutes from initial assessment & vitals to collecting my blood samples). All of the concerns I brought up were addressed in the form of referrals and prescriptions which I truly appreciate but I also felt it was rushed. Maybe to make up for my wait? Or because it was the end of the day already? But I did feel like they could have been more attentive during my actual consultation because annuals are only once a year and if I’m going to wait for that long, I might as well get a nice comprehensive checkup/consultation. I would also appreciate not being told that I just need to meditate my mental health issues away but that’s another topic entirely. Overall, some of the issues of my recent visit were not intentional and I can understand they’re a busy office but it’s simply unprofessional to let a fasting patient with an appointment wait that long and have a non-urgent walk-in be seen first. The staff were as friendly as they could be and Dr. Santos and her associates are definitely skilled professionals. Next time I’ll stick with the Woodside location and hopefully won’t have to wait that long while fasting.
My experience with Dr. Santos was overall great. She was polite, didn’t have to wait long (15 minutes) , & has great bed side manners. The only reason for not giving a five star review would reflect on the front desk employees. IShow more had someone call me the day prior to my appt to confirm. I was advised to not eat anything after midnight, I mentioned my appt isn’t until 3pm so that is a long time to not eat anything and only drink water for blood work. The front desk said t the best she could do was bump me up to 2pmish. As I was getting closer to my appt I started to get a bad headache. I gave in and had some grapes and crackers. Once I arrived to my appt and answered some general questions, I informed them I had to nibble on something due to the headache. The nurse taking my blood then asked when was the last time I ate and I said before midnight. She said I was to only stop eating 4-6 hours prior to my blood work. If I would have known that I could have eaten an early breakfast and avoided this headache. My recommendation is cross training the front desk when confirming appts they are giving the patients correct information. I look forward to having Dr. Santos as my new PCP.
