Matthew Goldenberg, DO, is double board certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry and is a certified medical review officer (MRO). Dr. Goldenberg is an expert in the evaluation and treatment of mental health disorders and addiction. He is the founder of Mental Health and Wellness Associates, which is based in Santa Monica, California.
Dr. Goldenberg has a small private practice, where he has become a nationally recognized aviation psychiatrist with HIMS (Human Intervention Motivation Study) training and expertise, and he evaluates pilots and air traffic controllers for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
In his private practice, Dr. Goldenberg also has extensive experience providing mental health and substance use disorder evaluations and expert testimony for healthcare providers and other safety-sensitive workers engaged in administrative or legal proceedings.
Dr. Goldenberg completed medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. After finishing a psychiatry residency at Banner–University Medical Center Phoenix, he returned to his hometown of Los Angeles and completed a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Goldenberg is an active author, researcher, and speaker who’s frequently invited to local and national conferences. He also volunteers as a clinical instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA.
He maintains active membership in several professional societies and organizations, including having served as the chair of California Public Protection & Physician Health, Inc. (CPPPH), as a current member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Addiction Psychiatry, and as the current president-elect of the Southern California Psychiatric Society (SCPS).
