About Meredith Galvin, PMHNP

Meredith Galvin is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a deeply rooted passion for supporting the mental and emotional well-being of individuals across the lifespan. With over 20 years of combined experience in social work and nursing, she brings a compassionate, whole-person approach to psychiatric care grounded in both clinical
expertise and real-world understanding. 

Meredith began her career in child welfare after earning her BSW from Meredith College in 1998. She spent 12 years serving children and families in North Carolina before pursuing her BSN at East Carolina University, with a clear goal of transitioning into psychiatric care. She began her nursing career at Duke Hospital, working in medical-surgical care before transferring to the inpatient psychiatric unit, where she provided care to individuals in acute mental health crisis. After moving to Wilmington, NC, she served as a psychiatric home health nurse, delivering in-home care to patients with complex psychiatric needs. 

In 2025, Meredith completed her MSN at Eastern Kentucky University and became certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her dual background in social work and nursing allows her to connect with patients from all walks of life and provide care that addresses both emotional and environmental factors contributing to mental health. 

Meredith has experience working with individuals across various age groups. She is especially passionate about trauma-informed care, psychiatric crisis stabilization, and supporting those with complex needs. She values building therapeutic relationships rooted in trust, empathy, and respect, and is committed to helping her patients feel seen, heard, and supported. 

Meredith lives at the beach, where she finds peace and tranquility near the ocean. She believes water has a grounding effect—something she brings into her presence as a provider. She shares her life with her wonderfully supportive husband, their four daughters, and her 16-year-old Maltese, Roxie. Meredith comes from a close-knit rural community and remains deeply connected to her extended family. She believes in the power of relationships, lifelong learning, and holding space for healing.
