PA Worden was very nice and explained the treatment plan and epidural procedure well. Front desk staff that was not helpful when I told them I could not sit and needed a place to place complete the intake forms. I found a smallShow more counter in a hallway but it was so akward I fell down. Someone eventually found a small room where I could lie down. There was also a lot of confusion between Alta and Pueblo Radiology re Pueblo’s need to review the spinal X-rays your off ice took. After many phone calls your office agreed to provide my X-rays husband for $10.00 but would not provide the X-rays directly to Pueblo. We brought the CD w/ X-rays to the Pueblo epidural appointment but they said it was too late and couldn’t use them. The epidural went fine but the radiologist only injected one area— not two areas as you directed. He relied ONLY on the MRI and refused to view or keep the X-ray CD from your office that we brought with us
This is a great practice and all the doctors under one umbrella type situation that makes it exactly what someone like me with multiple joints and disorders to deal with I could not really be happier with the doctors and effort puShow moret forth by all. I have done a 180 from just a year ago where I was in a chronic level 8 or higher of pain everyday. Now after neck surgery and disc replacements. With the repair of my right shoulder I am already in a considerably large amount of relief from just the initial surgery I am so very happy and I’m so much less pain that is now very manageable and see me reaching my goal of getting off narcotic pain medication this year a very real possibility. I recommend anyone and everyone with orthopedic problems to see any number of specialists.
Michael Kenly, MD, is a compassionate pain management specialist at Alta Orthopaedics, with locations in Solvang, Santa Barbara, and Oxnard, California. Dr. Kenly utilizes his medical and life knowledge to connect with his patients in order to effectively treat their pain and improve their quality of life.
Growing up in western Canada, Dr. Kenly has always felt a love for the outdoors. He believes that a fulfilling life is achieved by exploring and interacting with the world around us. His goal as an interventional pain management specialist is to improve patient function and quality of life through decreased pain.
Dr. Kenly completed his undergraduate degree in exercise and sport science at Brigham Young University in Oahu, Hawaii. Following graduation, he spent a year as a hiking guide in the Swiss Alps (where he met his future wife). He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine before heading back out west. His postgraduate training included an internship in internal medicine and residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Utah. This was followed by a year of fellowship training in interventional spine care and pain management, which he completed in Atlanta, Georgia.
His primary area of focus is pain that originates from the spine. He is able to utilize many different techniques to treat his patients’ pain. He is fellowship-trained in interventional spine care and fluoroscopically guided procedures, such as epidural steroid injections, medial branch neurotomy, spinal cord stimulation/neuromodulation, and other treatments to minimize the need for medications.
Dr. Kenly believes that the most important aspect of managing pain is for his patients to understand why they hurt and be actively involved in developing a treatment plan. He takes the necessary time to discuss the problems and the different treatment options. He also performs electrodiagnostic testing such as EMG and nerve conduction studies as needed to assist in making a diagnosis.
Dr. Kenly is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Pain Medicine. He is a member of the International Spine Intervention Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and North American Neuromodulation Society.
Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2010, Dr. Kenly has developed a love for sailing and is a frequent visitor to the Channel Islands. He also enjoys skiing and mountain biking with his wife and daughter when they aren’t exploring far off places from Galapagos to Cape Town.

Dr. Kenly is the best......
He is very responsive and supportive during the appointment. However, the waiting time is always way too long. After driving an hour To get there, it’s frustration to be in time and wait another hour to see him.

I was first seen by Dr. Kenly in July of 2023 for a consultation regarding my severe scoliosis. I saw him that day in the Solvang office. My options for treatment are rather limited, but Dr. Kenly has not given up me and expressed to me how much he wants to find something that will help me with my constant pain. I've suffered from debilitating Back pain the past couple years after I was in an accident. Chiropractic treatments and PT only seemed to worsen things. DR. Kenly was finally able to provide me some relief through a Pain Management plan. I've only just started but already I am starting to feel like my old self again.
