This was a great experience. Dr. Bettencourt let's you know what she is seeing and whether it is of concern as she performs the exam. Second time I've seen her and both experiences were excellent. The office staff, especially "Show moreNicky" were amazing. Some disgruntled patient came in and was speaking very loudly in the lobby/waiting area. He was mad about insurance issues, not the medical practice, but he clearly blamed the practice for some of the confusion of dealing with the insurance company. Nicky was compassionate, kind, helpful and a great listener... Seriously good at resolving conflict and restoring calm... I'm a lawyer. I see angry people, frustrated people all of the time... I would love to have Nicky running interference for my business. That staff was professional and they all seemed to get along and enjoy their work... never forgetting about the waiting patients. This medical practice made me wait a 1/2 hour to be seen, but it was worth it just to see a well oiled machine at work.
Galina Serdtsev and her assistant Melissa were awesome! They both made me feel so very welcome and helped me tremendously with my issue. The wealth of information given was so very helpful. Galina took her time and the visit was nShow moreever rushed. She answered every question I had in detail. Melissa was very personable and followed up with everything I was supposed to do post visit. The front desk ladies were also extremely friendly. I am so very fortunate that my doctor referred me to Thomas Dermatology. I was extremely anxious prior to the visit and these wonderful ladies made me feel so very comfortable. As picky a person that I am, I would definitely recommend this dermatologist to anyone!
Miriam S. Bettencourt, MD, is a board-certified Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Nevada, and an adjunct professor at Touro University. She practices medical and cosmetic dermatology and Mohs surgery at Thomas Dermatology’s Henderson, Nevada office location.
She started her medical career in Brazil and completed a residency in internal medicine and dermatology at the University of São Paulo, followed by a residency in family medicine and dermatology at Duke University, where she was selected as Chief Resident. Subsequently, she joined the University of South Florida as an assistant clinical professor and Associate Residency Program Director, Head of the Clinical Trials Division, and Chief of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
She has been practicing in Las Vegas since 2002. She is the founder and director of the Women Physicians Medical Society in Las Vegas and has participated in several committees of the American Academy of Dermatology and Women’s Dermatologic Society.
Dr. Bettencourt has been the investigator for multiple clinical trials, the moderator of several pharmaceutical advisory boards, and she is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker (over 1200 lectures) in medical dermatology, speaking about topics such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, actinic keratosis, tropical diseases, and others. She is faculty of the Las Vegas Derm Seminar as the Chair for the Best Cases of Las Vegas session. In November 2021, Dr. Bettencourt was elected by her peers to the Board of Directors for the Nevada Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She has also served as President of the Nevada Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
She has represented the US in dermatology meetings in Italy, Australia, South Korea, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, France, etc. She was selected by the American Academy of Dermatology to participate in leadership forums and represent the state of Nevada at past legislative conferences.
Dr. Bettencourt contributes to the dermatology education of physician assistants and medical students in the valley, and she has been the recipient of the Top Doc Award in Las Vegas yearly. She is married to Mike Davidson, former Clark County Assistant District Attorney and retired Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge.

The doctor and staff were great. What I was not happy about, however, is that I was offered only one $180 product as a solution for my skin issue. I wish it was more of a priority to educate and inform rather than push a specific product. I left feeling very disappointed.
