My initial blood work and tests were done a couple weeks earlier, then I met Dr Chavez for the first time in the visit to review all the tests. He was very friendly, wanted to learn about your life, what’s going on for you. He wShow moreent thru test results explaining things in great depth where needed, and established a plan of action for next 3 months. Had a good informational folder to explain the MDVIP program in detail and the additional tests available that he can do, etc. Very happy with my initial meeting.
My mother has dementia and she was a little apprehensive about going to a new doctor, but she instantly took to Dr. Chavez and later told me that she really felt good after her visit and that she's so glad that I took her to him. Pompeyo Chavez, MD, is a compassionate family medicine physician at MDVIP at Premier Family Physicians, a concierge family medicine practice located in Bastrop, Texas.
Dr. Chavez graduated from the Universidad de San Martin de Porres in Lima, Peru, in 2001. He completed his family practice residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston from 2004-2007, where he served as Chief Resident.
He is a member of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP), and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM). Dr. Chavez presently serves as the president of the Bastrop-Lee County Medical Society; he is also the medical director for Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Magnolia Hospice.
At the end of 2019, Dr. Chavez transitioned his practice toward a more personalized and preventive care model with the collaboration of MDVIP. Extensive testing and in-depth analysis of the patients’ health has shown to provide earlier cardiovascular and metabolic disease detection. This model also allows Dr. Chavez to have greater patient interaction and increase his availability to his patients. He is able to focus more on the prevention of disease by designing a comprehensive wellness program while empowering the patient to take charge of their health.
In his free time, Dr. Chavez enjoys deep sea fishing, tennis, golf, and spending time with his wife and his three children.

Dr. Chavez spent over 1 hour with me going over all my test results. He explained the results in terms that I could understand and he answered all of my questions. I left the office feeling good about myself and my health. The entire office experience was so pleasant and relaxing.

Never hurried, like he had no other duties! Always ready to explain issues. Is concerned with the whole person, not just numbers and charts. Comfortable and friendly surroundings and personnel. Phone is always answered within 2 rings with a calm and interested voice. Responded to my needs following a serious fall and injury. Always there when I need him. He is the BEST!!!

Everyone in the office is friendly and caring. They take their time to listen to any questions or concerns you may have. Never rushes you which is great! Dr. Chavez is a gem!; really knowledgeable and also listens; provides feedback, doesn’t rush you and sends you a follow-up email explaining the results of your visit in case you forgot something. (Which is beneficial to me). So glad I found them!!!
