One week post-vasectomy procedure and I feel fine. Still a little bruising and soreness, but overall, a great experience. I was in the office for maybe an hour and a half. The procedure took maybe 30 minutes. Everyone was very pShow morerofessional. Absolutely take the doctor's advice: wear tight-fitting underwear (i.e. jockstrap) and fully rest for the first 48 hours, making sure to ice the area often. I only took maybe a total of five 200mg Ibuprofen during my first week of recovery. I had very little pain (only mild discomfort). Definitely sleep with a pillow between your legs if you like to sleep on your sides. I was up and walking around slowly after the first 48 hours and able to do mundane chores. Seven days later and I'm able to do brief exercise without much discomfort. Will recommend Dr. Khalili and his staff to anyone looking to get a vasectomy done. Pro-tip: if you're feeling anxious, ask for "Pro-Nox" (N20) gas during the procedure. ;)
Dr. Khalili was amazing and significantly exceeded my expectations. I actually enjoyed my vasectomy experience. During our initial consultation appointment he ask good questions regarding my decision to have a vasectomy. He also sShow morehared various examples and stories that highlighted the importance of the decision and provided insight into the impact it has on an individuals future. During my second appointment and vasectomy procedure Dr. Khalili provided a step by step description of what he was doing and what I was experiencing. He also strategically carried a conversation during the whole process that calm my nervousness, distracted me and was entertaining. I really appreciate his approach, passion and professional style. My surgery and recovery were both easy and good experiences. I can tell he has been doing this for over twenty years and I think he is the Picasso of Vasectomies.
About Dr. Ramin Khalili
Dr. Ramin Khalili MD is a board-certified urologist and a founding partner of Huntington Urology Specialists located in Pasadena, California. He is an expert in urological surgery, advanced robotic, and minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Khalili graduated an Angell Scholar, Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received his master's degree in electrical engineering and circuit design from the University of California at Berkeley, and then worked in development of innovative circuits and instrumentation in Silicon Valley.
Then, Dr. Khalili returned to academia and graduated with a Regents Scholarship from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 1991. He was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society at UCLA. He completed his urological surgery residency at UCLA in 1997 and has been practicing urology in Pasadena ever since.
Dr. Khalili is affiliated with Huntington Hospital and has been a pioneer in bringing advanced urological techniques to his community. He was instrumental in performing the first brachytherapy and robotic surgeries at Huntington Hospital. He has served as the chief of urology for several terms.
Today, Dr. Khalili is a recognized expert in robotic-assisted nerve-sparing prostatectomy, producing excellent outcomes in early recovery, negative margins, continence, and potency. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques for treatment of benign prostate enlargement, stone disease, vasectomy male and female incontinence, including robotic pelvic floor reconstruction.
