I usually don't love doctor appointments, but this was a good one. When, in 2005, I told my primary doc that I'd had very dramatic heart symptoms, he picked up the phone, talked to Dr.Rastegar and had me go immediately to E 48th SShow moret. She, with roots in Iran, was a gorgeous woman, wearing black tailored slacks and a white shirt. She had a shock of black hair, was athletic-slim and I proposed on the spot. She said No. She also said I had coronary artery disease and made an appointment for an angiogram. That resulted in 2 stents. In the beginning I had quarterly appointments. She had me on meds. With her acquiescence she let me shed the drugs and segue into the Ornish Diet. My blood tests remained the same and still do. As usual this time she ended with a test hooking me up to a machine which showed that my blood was flowing freely and in the right direction. The highlight of the visit, though, was that she said I am in remarkably good shape, heartwise, that is. Again I proposed. Again she said no. If only I was 85 again.

I needed to understand why I had the heart attack and what recovery would entail. Her warm manner puts me at Show moremy ease and I can speak openly about my health concerns. Dr. Raymonda Rastegar is a triple-boarded cardiologist with certifications in general cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. She has expertise in general and noninvasive cardiology, as well as preventive care. At Heartwise Cardiology in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York, she treats varied cardiovascular conditions with a special interest in helping patients prevent heart disease and heart attacks.
With board certification in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology, she offers extensive in-office testing to quickly and accurately diagnose cardiovascular conditions, such as coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease.
Dr. Rastegar received her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She remained at Mount Sinai for her residency and fellowship training in cardiovascular diseases.
After completing her fellowship, Dr. Rastegar became co-director of echocardiography and noninvasive cardiology at Beth Israel Medical Center-North Division in New York City. Then she established her private practice, where she is currently the co-director of Heartwise Cardiology.

I feel very fortunate to have such a thorough, caring cardiologist. Dr. Rastegar takes her time to answer and explain whatever is happening. I trust this Doctor with my life and I know I am in good hands. It is important to believe your Doctor is the best, and I do. The office staff is excellent and that makes things much easier. One of the staff calls me monthly to ask if I have any problems or concerns. I am very grateful!

Not only was I taken on time yesterday, but actually was served earlier when I arrived. I have always had a good experience at Dr. Rastegar's office. I have never waited overly long, and Dr. R. is always friendly, thorough, and informative. She looks at any test results I bring and listens to everything I inform her about and ask questions about it. She lets me know what things I need to watch out for. The office staff is excellent: warm, helpful, knowledgeable. Yes, this is a definite recommendation.
