Richard S. Gordon, MD, FACS, FRCSC, FASMBS, is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, robotic/laparoscopic (or minimally invasive) surgeries, anti-reflux (or hiatal hernia) surgery, and other general surgical procedures. He brings over 20 years of experience to Advanced Surgical Associates of West Florida, with offices in Largo, Clearwater and Trinity, Florida.
Dr. Gordon completed his medical school training at The University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, followed by his surgical residency and chief resident year at the Ottawa Hospital. He then completed his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Fort Lauderdale.
He specializes in minimally-invasive robotic surgery and is a proud member of Tampa Bay Surgical Group, LLC.
Dr. Gordon is on staff at Morton Plant Hospital, Mease Countryside Hospital, Mease Dunedin Hospital, and Largo Medical Center. He is involved in the residency teaching program at Largo Medical Center, educating future surgeons.

I am 74. I was in an emergency situation that was very very serious! I needed surgery and Doctor Gordon stepped up to the plate. I was in hospital for 10 days with multiple serious issues. Dr Gordon performed two separate complex issues and followed through till I was discharged. Dr Gordon is very professional with a very caring bed side manor. Dr Gordon’s associate Dr S was also assisting. I highly recommend them. Doctor Gordon truly saved my life and I will eternally be grateful. ❤️❤️❤️
