Samantha Ericksen graduated Cum Laude from Florida State University in 2013 with a bachelors in Exercise Science. She went on to obtain her Master's of Physician Assistant Studies from Florida International University in 2017. She was Valedictorian of her class and received the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Clinical Scholar award due to her excellent clinical performance. Her Master's thesis was "The Effect of Exercise on the Development of Cardiovascular Disease". Her thesis identified several risk factors for cardiovascular disease such as dyslipidemia, hypertension, and diabetes and examined how they can cause cardiovascular disease on a cellular level. She then examined the research on reversal and prevention of damage via exercise.
Due to her background in exercise and nutrition, Samantha understands how lifestyle modification can affect the development of disease as well as longevity and vitality. She understands that patients need to be listened to before being tossed a medication, while also recognizing when extensive work-up or therapeutics are appropriate. She has done research in alternative medicine and can offer non-medication alternatives if a patient prefers. During her over 3 years of practice, she has been described by patients as "easy to talk with", "comfortable" "professional" "knowledgeable" "up-to-date" and "welcoming".
Samantha is a professional member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is a board certified Physician Assistant with the NCCPA. She has extensive experience in family medicine and has a special interest in dermatology and diabetes. She enjoys seeing patients from age 5 to 105!
