Two days post-op cataract surgery, my eye feels good, can see fairly well with my old glasses. After surgery had to leave the surgical center and go to Dr. Gadlin’s office for the eye drops I needed to use for the next few weeks. Show moreHis office advised my 3-day post-op appt was cancelled and advised to go back to the surgery center after couple of hours for an eye pressure check. Was then told to return in 3-4 weeks for new glasses RX but no appt date was given. Dr. Gadlin’s office advised me to call if I have any eye problems. So I feel the surgery went well but the follow-up remains uncertain for now.
The office got me in as a new patient the next day, thanks to a cancellation! The doctor was prompt, thorough, efficient, and knowledgeable. The front office lady here, to the contrary, was polite, professional, and courteous both over the phone and in-person. Since moving to Athens I have been astounded by the lack of common phone courtesy and general sensibility of front office staff in medical settings. This practice would be the exception! I hope my follow up appointment goes as well as this first encounter. I highly recommend this practice!
Scotty Gadlin, MD, is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon at Athens Eye Consultants in Athens, Georgia. He has many years of experience treating various eye diseases and vision problems in patients of all ages.
Dr. Gadlin graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens. He earned his doctorate in medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. While in medical school, he was in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Gadlin remained at the Medical College of Georgia to complete an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology.
He’s highly trained in medical, laser, and surgical management of cataracts, diabetic eye diseases, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and traumatic eye injuries. Dr. Gadlin participates in continuing education to maintain his credentials and stay up to date with the latest advances in ophthalmology.
He spent six years caring for patients in the Oconee and Athens communities before opening Athens Eye Consultants. Dr. Gadlin is passionate about educating patients and other medical professionals.
He serves as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia (UGA/GRU) Medical Partnership. Dr. Gadlin is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.
He enjoys living in the Athens community with his wife, two children, and dogs. When he’s not at the office, Dr. Gadlin enjoys playing pickleball, woodworking, and taking in UGA athletic competitions. He’s a member of the Athens Woodworking Club, Athens Area Pickleball Association, and the William C Hartman Foundation.

Wet pleased. I scratch my eye bad while cleaning brush from our yard. They saw me right away and was able to give me relief from pain almost immediately. I was very pleased and sent my brother-in-law to see them for cataract removal.

Dr. Gadlin and his staff have all been very professional and courteous during my visits. The procedure for every test and the results have been explained clearly, and I am always encouraged to ask questions. The office is also very efficient, and I get in and out of my visits quickly while at the same time not feeling rushed. Highly recommend!
