About Dr. Stephen Boatwright, MD

With a background in primary care and anesthesiology, Dr. Stephen E. Boatwright of Palmetto Spine and Pain Care Consultants in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, brings a unique perspective to pain management. Dr. Boatwright specializes in interventional techniques that help patients of all ages benefit from the latest options in modern medicine and pain relief. As a board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Boatwright and his team of pain management experts offer comprehensive care for those living with acute and chronic pain.

Dr. Boatwright began his medical career at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and completed two residencies at the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. Dr. Boatwright completed his first residency and became board certified in family medicine while serving as Chief Resident.

During his second residency in anesthesiology, Dr. Boatwright again served as Chief Resident and earned his board certification in anesthesiology. He also completed a cardiac clinical subspecialty plus additional training in pain management.

Dr. Boatwright first founded Coastal Anesthesia Consultants in Myrtle Beach where he served as the Director of Anesthesia, Cardiac Anesthesia, and Pain Management at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. His practice of primary care combined with anesthesiology led him to open Palmetto Spine and Pain Care Consultants where he provides the latest interventional techniques in pain management.

Outside of the office, Dr. Boatwright enjoys serving others with his church on mission trips, cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks, and spending time at the beach with his family.
